From the Catholic Liturgy for
Sunday, October 2, 2016. 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time. In the Gospel (Luke
17:5-10)Jesus relates faith to a tiny
mustard seed. His hearers got the connection because they lived in a land
dominated by this plant. the secret to the mustard seed's hidden power lied in
the fact that it is tiny and light, docile to movement by the wind. it gets
blown wherever the wind takes it and wherever it lands, it begins to bear life.
And so with us. The seed of faith planted within us by Baptism must be moved
the wind of the Holy Spirit and go wherever he sends us, do whatever he asks of
us. and if we have this docility to the Spirit, miracles can happen and life
can be drastically changed. You have within you the hidden power of the mustard
seed o faith...allows the Holy Spirit to move you and make it grow.
